Il Primitivo Salento
This exceptional wine is known as the jewel of Salento and Southern Italy, and its vines recognized as those which were introduced in California to create American Red Zinfandel.
At sight this wine is a deep ruby red color turning dark orange with age. The bouquet is persistent and delicious. The nose hints of sweet red fruit and blueberries. The taste is fresh and long on the palate with medium tannins and a rich full body, always smooth and pleasant, with a long and wonderfully persistent finish.
Pairs well with roasted or grilled meats, pasta, fried fish and shellfish, and spicy dishes.
Salento Negroamaro IGT
From the renowned wine region of Salento on the peninsula of Puglia, where the Negroamaro grape and wines are the undisputed jewels of any winemakers collection.
At sight this wine is a compact deep ruby red color tending towards dark purple. The nose is wide and persistent with the austerity of Negroamaro and with a bold floral bouquet that has peppery notes and cocoa accents. On the palate this wine is round, smooth and well balanced, while having a potent and aggressive, yet soft and fruity taste, with a long, pleasant, and well structured persistent finish.
It's almost impossible to incorrectly pair this wine with anything and it reaches its best with traditional home style cooking, especially barbeque, hearty pasta, savory fish or shellfish dishes.
Il Salice Salento
The most well known, this wine is the classic southern Italian red blend from Puglia.
At sight this wine is a deep purple red color. The bouquet is full with the austerity of Negroamaro and the gentle sweetness of Malvasia Nera. The delicious nose has slight scents of the oak barriques, ripe red fruit, licorice, and hints of green figs. The taste is smooth on the palate with nice tannins that are well balanced with the fresh acidity of the wine, and a pleasant fruity body that fills the mouth, leading to a long, pleasant and fulfilling finish.
Pairs well with roasted meats, barbeque, pasta, fried fish, shellfish, and risotto.
