Wine Notes:

A traditional old world style red wine of the north; Pure Simplistic Quality

One of the world's most widely recognized red wine grape varieties; it is grown in nearly every major wine producing country among a diverse spectrum of climates. Cabernet Sauvignon became internationally recognized through its prominence in Bordeaux wines where it is often blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc. From France, the grape spread across Europe, mainly to help support French wine production at first. Cabernet Sauvignon has a long history in Italian wines, and for many years, its origins were not clearly understood and many myths and conjunctures surrounded it. The word "Sauvignon" is believed to be derived from the French "sauvage" meaning "wild" and to refer to the grape being a wild vitis vinifera vine native to France. Until recently the grape was rumored to have ancient origins, perhaps even being the Biturica grape used to make ancient Roman wine and referenced by Pliny the Elder. Recent history shows it being first introduced to the Piedmont region in 1820. For most of its history in Italy the grape has been viewed with suspicion as a "foreign influence" that distracts from the native grape varieties. For most of the 20th century, it was the world's most widely planted premium red wine grape until it was surpassed by Merlot in the 1990s. This wine is an old world style favorite of northern Italy and comes from one of the foremost wine regions known for its quality wine production. This Cabernet, produced in its true form, you will find, hints of its region and winemaker's personal touch more than most any other grape will.

Winemaker Notes:

Deep ruby red in color, this beautiful wine has a wide and complex bouquet with earthy notes and hints of coffee on the nose. On the palate it is fruit forward and smooth with a delicate full body taste with spice and anise tones. The rich flavors lead to a finish that is soft, persistent, and fulfilling. An easy drinking northern Italian favorite and an excellent wine for all occasions! A northern Italian classic! Wines from this appellation are usually suited to moderate aging, and at their best drunk young.

Pairing:

Perfect with fish, poultry, pasta, barbeque, or just about anything.
