Wine Notes:

This wine hails from the region in Italy that is of Tommy's families' heritage in Abruzzo. A traditional "old world" style blend and classic favorite of Abruzzo and surrounding regions.

This wine is considered a true classic of the region, which is known for its exceptional and high quality Montepulciano grapes. The grape itself is Sangiovese, but was renamed by the local farmers and vintners of Abruzzo, and the region, many years ago; to distinguish themselves from Tuscan growers and the fame surrounding the renowned Sangiovese di Toscana grape. Within the region, and over the years, the grape has taken on its own bold characteristics that are influenced by the mineral rich soil and Adriatic Sea breezes, which are present in the fabulous and delicious wine.

Winemaker Notes:

Made from hand selected grapes to ensure the highest quality, at sight the wine is a brilliant and intense ruby-red color with shades of violet. The wine has beautiful aromas of cherry and plum, complimented by cedar and spice on the nose. On the palate this wine is bold, full-bodied, and is very well structured with fine tannins and a clean, persistent finish.

Wines from this appellation are usually suited to moderate aging, and may also be drunk young.

Pairing:

An excellent wine to enjoy with a variety of foods, especially first courses, roasted and grilled meats.
