Wine Notes:

A classic Italian red wine blend made in the "Old World" style and traditions.

The grape; Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from Abruzzo, on the central east coast of Italy was introduced by farmers into the region many centuries ago. The grape they introduced was the noble Sangiovese grape from Montepulciano in Tuscany, and to distinguish themselves from Tuscany they renamed the grape: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. Over the centuries that grape has taken on its own characteristics derived from the influences of the Adriatic Sea and rich soil within the region. This wine is made of the finest, hand-selected Montepulciano grapes and blended with Sangiovese to create this fabulous and classic "old world" style blend.

Winemaker Notes:

At sight this wine is a brilliant, deep ruby red color with shades of violet that tend towards garnet with age. The bouquet is wide and delicious with aromas of cherry and plum, which are complimented by cedar and spice on the nose. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and well-structured, soft and dry with fine tannins, and a smooth, clean, persistent finish.

Wines from this appellation are usually suited to moderate aging, and may also be drunk young.

Pairing:

Pairs well with roasted or grilled meats, pasta, savory fish dishes, and sharp chesses.
