Wine Notes:
The classic "old world" white wine of Kings, this wine is exclusive to the renowned wine region of San Gimignano in Tuscany. San Gimignano is known as the City of Towers.
A classic from Tuscany, since the Renaissance it has been considered one of Italy's finest white wines. It was the first Italian wine to be awarded DOC status in 1966; on July 9th, 1993 it was upgraded to DOCG. The earliest recorded mention of the wine appear in the archives of record of San Gimignano from 1276. In Italy and throughout Europe it is known as the "Wine of Kings". The ruling kings of different regions centuries ago used this exceptional wine as monetary value, and used to fight for the rights to take control of production from the regions producers. This wine is 100% hand selected Vernaccia di San Gimignano, grown and produced exclusively in the San Gimignano district.
Winemaker Notes:
Having wonderful character and structure, this wine displays a subtle, pure straw color with golden reflections and a delicious bouquet. The nose is a delicate and penetrating aroma of fruit that is wide and full. The finish is crisp with a typical Vernaccia fruity flavor followed by a slightly bitterish and persistent clean finish.
This wine may be enjoyed for 2–3 years during which time it will retain all its freshness.
Pairing:
Pairs well with boiled or fried seafood and shellfish, roasted white meats, and soft cheeses.
