Wine Notes:
The world renowned red wine of southern Italy and the #1 grape grown on the Island of Sicily. By total harvest volume, Nero d’Avola is the most grown grape in the world.
From the active slopes of Mt. Etna volcano on the island of Sicily comes this amazing southern classic. The grape; Nero d'Avola, is indigenous to Sicily, and is one of the most renowned grapes in all of Italy. The vineyard which produces this wonderful wine is situated on the slopes within the active zone of the volcano. In this geographic zone the earth is warmer and produces grapes with special characteristics because the fields are volcanic ash and lava rock.
Winemaker Notes:
The color is an intense ruby red with defined hints of garnet. The nose is floral and explodes with traces of the French Allier Barriques, vanilla, black cherries, and a hint of licorice; presenting an elegant, bold wine. The taste is well balanced and robust with great structure. Flavors of black cherry, ripe fruits of the forest and spice, provide a wonderful backdrop for a long, pleasant and fulfilling finish. This wine is an excellent example of the renowned southern Italian classic. This wine can be enjoyed young, but becomes more refined for 5–8 years
At its Best when opened or decanted 30 to 45 minutes or longer prior to serving.
Pairing:
Pairs best with roasted or grilled meats, savory pasta and fish, deep fried shellfish, and perfect with spicy dishes.
