Wine Notes:
The world renowned sparkling wine of Veneto.
Viticulture in Veneto and the region of Prosecco dates back to ancient times evidenced by the work of man who has, over the centuries, sculpted the sunniest slopes of Trieste, where the Prosecco grape originated. The exact origins are somewhat of a mystery, but in fact, already known as the “pucino” in the time of the Roman Empire, it is believed that Prosecco was already produced, possibly as the vinum pucinum that was praised by Pliny the Elder centuries ago. It is one of the oldest wine grapes in Italy and ranks about thirtieth in importance among the country's some 2,000 grape varieties, and consistently rising each year due to the world renowned popularity of the wine. The name Prosecco is derived from the northern Italian village of Prosecco, near Trieste. Two distinct styles of Prosecco are produced in Italy; Spumante, which comes in two forms; Brut and Extra Dry. The Spumante style is the natural sparkling wine which gives full expression to its character. The Frizzante style is normally produced with lesser quality grapes and uses carbonation in the fermentation process to create the fizz or bubbles to make it a sparkling wine. Regarding Brut and Extra Dry; Brut is the modern or new world style characterized by rich aromas of citrus fruit. Extra Dry is the classic style which combines the aromatic quality with the exalted sapidity of the wines fine bubbles.
Winemaker Notes:
The color is a brilliant white with golden reflections with a fine and persistent perlage. The nose is fruity, slightly floral and full. The taste is fresh and well balanced, with characteristic hints of white peach and yellow apple, followed by pleasant, harmonic and aromatic finish and aftertaste. Prosecco does not ferment in the bottle, grows stale with time; and should be drunk young.
A classic style sparkling white wine, crisp and refreshing, that is traditionally served as an aperitif, with any meal, by itself, and during times of celebration.
Pairing:
Excellent wine for celebration, as a starter, with dessert, fruit, any meal, and simply by the glass anytime.
