Wine Notes:

If Rubies had flavor... this is what they would taste like! A classic, prestigious wine first produced by Royal Medici Family of Tuscany in the early 9th century, this wine, at one time, was the most valuable wine in all of Italy

Villa Medicea Artimino History and its Wine:
Etruscan Period (7th Century BC):
The Villa was the center of an important township with the main grape/wine production area called the "Borgo" and the sacred center where the Villa currently stands today.
Roman Period (2nd Century BC):
Distribution of the land was granted to the veterans returning from the Gauls and during this period the entire estate was transformed into an agricultural center.
Medieval Period (7th Century AD):
The valued land fell into a fight between the cities of Florence, Pistoia, and Pisa for territorial control.
Medici Period (9th Century AD):
The land and site was loved by Cosimo I de Medici. His son, Ferdinando, ordered Buontalenti to design the Villa and it was turned into a large hunting estate by Francesco II, and the royal Medici vineyards and land were qualified and established.
Today, The Villa acts as a convention center with a 4 star hotel and restaurants. The royal Medici farm, vineyards, and winery, now know as the area of Carmignano, are amongst the best in all of Italy and produce one of the famed and prestigious DOCG red wines of Italy, the Carmignano.

Winemaker Notes:

12 months in Allier Barriques give this wine its wonderful character and balance. At sight a bright deep ruby red in color with straw colored reflections. The nose is wide and full with fragrance of wild red berries and withered rose accentuated by the Allier Barriques. The taste is dry without asperity, round, soft, smooth, with elegant structure, great character, with an intense and rich fruit forward body, followed by a long, well balanced, flavorful finish. An incredible wine to enjoy now or to hold for years.

Decanting Highly Recommended.

Limited Production

Pairing:

An excellent wine to enjoy with wild game, roasted or grilled meats, pork, poultry, and pasta.
